Manchester City FC

Founded in 1880 as St. Mark’s (West Gorton), the club became Manchester City in 1894 and played at Maine Road for 80 years before moving to Manchester’s Sportcity complex.

Historically the club’s most successful period was in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In 2008, the club was purchased by Abu Dhabi United Group and – following significant investment in players, management and facilities – the club has risen to become a major force in both English and European football.

In 2011, Manchester City qualified for the Champions League and won the FA Cup. In 2012, the club won the Premier League with a last-minute goal beating rivals Manchester United to the title on goal difference and ending their 44-year wait for the English football championship.

Etihad Stadium

Etihad Stadium – formerly the City of Manchester Stadium – is the home ground of Manchester City FC, the fifth-largest stadium in the Premier League and the twelfth-largest in the UK, with a seating capacity of 47,805.

Originally opened in 2002 as host stadium the Commonwealth Games that year, the stadium was reconfigured and capacity enlarged before Manchester City FC moved from its historic Maine Road to this new stadium in 2003.

Lancashire County Cricket Club

Founded in 1864 as a successor to Manchester Cricket Club, Lancashire County Cricket Club represents the historic county of Lancashire in cricket’s County Championship; the domestic first-class cricket competition in England and Wales.

The club has played at Old Trafford since its formation, beating Middlesex at the venue in the inaugural first-class match in 1865.

Old Trafford has a celebrated history and is the 2nd oldest Test Match venue in England. In August 2013, the venue will host the third Ashes Test between England and Australia.

The Point

The Point is Lancashire County Cricket Club’s stunning new £12M conference and events centre at Old Trafford.

Opened on the 27th June 2010, The Point is a truly state-of-the-art venue; purpose-built to an extremely high specification and incorporating a range of environmental innovations.
