Time has flown since the original April and June dates for TheStadiumBusiness Summit and TheTicketingBusiness Forum. We thought six months would be sufficient time… but we need a little longer.
As our news channel is reporting, the stadium sector is reopening but it’s going to be long, uphill struggle before we are offering capacity events. Different markets are at different stages. And, naturally, our fans are nervous about returning to events.
Despite the UK government announcing the restart of conferences from 1 October, there is still no specific guidance as to how conferences can operate. The current 10 sq m per person is neither operationally, nor economically viable. Our frustration is further exacerbated when we see pubs open and packed beaches but B2B conferences – surely one of the most ‘controllable’ of event environments? – remain restricted.
But having experienced numerous ‘online exhibitions’ in recent months, we are more convinced than ever of the true benefits of business people (safely) getting together (in person) to share ideas and, in particular for our sector, restart their businesses.
We continue to lobby the authorities for the guidance we need to make meetings work safely.
Meanwhile, we have a new plan to share today:
- Our three key events TheStadiumBusiness Summit, TheTicketingBusiness Forum and TheStadiumBusiness Design & Development Summit will be hosted concurrently with a banner title:
- The Restart Event for the sports and entertainment sector;
- … will take place on 2-3 December 2020 at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester.
- Emirates Old Trafford (#SafeInOnePlace) is leading the way for the safe reopening of sports, entertainment and business events – as such, we have one of the safest places for our guests and partners.
We look forward to seeing you (safely, in-person) on 2-3 December in Manchester as we RESTART our stadium sector.
