“There is no finish line!” This is the mantra adopted by all the teams and businesses within AMB Sports and Entertainment family – and they’re not referring to goals or silverware. Instead this is the focus on sustainability for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, MLS’ Atlanta United FC and their home field Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

At #SBS23 we’ll have the opportunity to explore the group’s industry-leading sustainability drive – one that has culminated in the stadium being the first professional sports facility in the world to receive TRUE Platinum certification for zero waste and the only sports and entertainment venue to achieve a LEED Zero certification.

In his role Adam Fullerton, Senior Director – Stadium Operations at Mercedes-Benz Stadium leads the operations team in delivering innovative solutions that prompt operational efficiency for MBS. He has played a pivotal role in the stadium’s sustainability objectives.

AMBSE has led the way on sustainability across North America’s professional sports teams. In 2017, it was the first professional sports venue in the United States to achieve LEED Platinum Certification for Design and Construction and, just prior to the pandemic, hosted its first zero waste event in March of 2020 (an Atlanta United match)

At this year’s summit Adam will share key insights from the group’s Zero Waste Playbook and showcase some of the successes to date, including the stadium’s 6,000 sq ft state-of-the-art R3 (Resource Recovery Room).

Prior to his role at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Adam served in the U.S. Army based out of Afghanistan where he moved through the ranks as a fire support officer to a company commander within a two-year span, receiving a bronze star medal for meritorious service and more. Adam also served as an executive VP and general manager at BB&T Center, home of the Florida Panthers, where he ensured that the arena maintained a world-class operational status.

The group now “aims to expand sustainability efforts beyond the stadium footprint to additional internal business entities, surrounding properties and our community.”

Meet Adam, learn the key takeaways from AMBSE’s sustainability journey and network with 400+ stadium and area professionals from around the world. Only at #SBS23.
