Speak up for the quiet achievers!

We have a problem – TheStadiumBusiness Awards 2018 wants to recognise the stadium industry’s Unsung Heroes, but (as is their nature) they aren’t going to put themselves forward.

If there is someone in your organisation who is always delivering amazing things but never shouts about it, you need to nominate them and tell us why they should be honoured.

The Unsung Hero Award 2018 will go to the individual/team that delivers consistently outstanding service and results for major sports venues.

This is awarded to the quiet achiever(s), the ever-reliable ‘behind-the-scenes’ fixer(s) and the person(s) that ‘just gets on with the job’.

Previous Winners

In 2017 the award went to Dr. Kimberly Mahoney, Assistant Professor of Sport Management, University of New Haven, USA and our judges commented: “The epitome of an unsung hero, Kimberly has delivered the greatest impact behind-the-scenes during 20+ years working in facility and event management including NBA, NFL, NHL and major US intercollegiate facilities. She continues to send the ‘elevator back down’ through her teaching and textbooks on venue management – providing the foundations for our industry’s next generation of rising stars.” Read the full winners brochure here.

And in 2016 a whole team was recognised as the award was given to the ‘Environmental & Sustainability Management Group’ Croke Park, Ireland. Here’s what the judges had to say: “This is the second time that Croke Park’s “Avengers” have been
recognised by TheStadiumBusiness Awards but the track record of this core team of 15 staff and stadium contractors to drive the stadium’s sustainability programme is simply world-class.” Read the full winners brochure here.
