XtremePush, a provider of mobile marketing solutions to brands seeking to enrich mobile engagement with their customers, has teamed up with Leinster Rugby to deploy Apple’s new iBeacon technology at the RDS Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. Leinster Rugby is the first sports team in Europe to do this.
Fans had the opportunity to experience the technology first-hand during the recent RaboDirect Pro 12 semi-final. Push notifications were sent through the Leinster Rugby app, triggered by specially placed iBeacons when they entered certain areas of the stadium. The push notifications on both Apple and Android smartphones directed the fans to collect special prizes from Leinster’s Blue Crew positioned around the stadium.
