#SBS22 Preview: MCG – A Sustainability Journey

Sustainability – without doubt, the essential operational focus for our sector … now and in the years ahead.

Melbourne Cricket Ground has lead the way when it comes to recycling – even the turf gets a second lease of life! Between 2013 and 2019 MCG increased the amount of recycled waste from 61% to 78%, while cutting the organic waste by 80 percent.

So, how did the venue become a leader in environmental sustainability?

We’ll explore the MCG’s sustainability journey with Peter Wearne, General Manager – Facilities, Melbourne Cricket Ground at #SBS22. In his role Peter is responsible for one of the world’s largest sporting stadiums, the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), with one of his main objectives being responsible for environmental sustainability initiatives.

Peter’s expertise in this field has helped MCG catapult into the world’s most sustainable stadiums but has also become an integral figure to provide operational advice during the design of Optus Stadium, formerly known as New Perth Stadium.

With Peter’s indepth knowledge of the stadium industry and sustainability, his presentation is something not to be missed!
